Dawnstar's Story

"Come here little Spottedkit, let me tell you the story of how Dawnstar became leader." Brightsong mewed to her kit. Her kit sat down, wrapping her tail close. Then her mother began...

"Dawn was a rouge, born to one known as Oka. Oka believed there was something better than the fierce rouge life they had known. She snuck out of the camp with Dawn, but her mate, Snare, the "Deputy" at the time, caught their scent. He chased them onto Roseclan territory, where an exhausted Oka spun around to face him, flinging her kit gently to the bushes. Dawn watched as her father pinned her mother down and killed her. Paws dripping with blood, her father returned without a single thought of the lost kit. Dawn wandered until Dapplestar's patrol found her, Fallowfur, the Deputy, was along with and they brought the kit to the camp. Dawnkit grew up with her foster mother and sisters, Swiftkit and I. Blazekit, Firekit, and Snowkit were the other kits there, and shortly after, Moonkit, Shadowkit, and Tallkit were born. This was a time when Roseclan was flourishing. Dawnkit soon became Dawnpaw and later, Dawnfeather. She had a mate even, his name was Blazewing. She had kits, two golden toms and a white one, a she-kit. The two golden kits died, Lionkit and Goldkit. Dawnfeather named the living kit Snowkit, after Blazwing's dead sister. Thorn came to the camp one day with a cat Dawnstar recognized as Scar, whom she new from her days in the rouge nursery. They threatened her for turning against her heritage, this started right after her kit became an apprentice. Fallowfur was killed by a large group of rouges and Dapplestar, as we learned later, had lost her eighth life. Dawnfeather was choosen as Deputy by Dapplestar, although young. Her kit, she knew for sure, was in danger, but she, as Deputy, could not desert her clan. Blazewing realized she felt this way and told Dawnfeather he must take their kit to safety. Her heart sunk in to a bottomless pit, shattering into a million pieces, her mate and only kit had to leave her. Swiftpaw, who was medicine cat apprentice then, and I stood by her as they left the entrance. Dapplestar lost her last life and Dawnfeather became Dawnstar, choosing Moonwhisker as her first Deputy. I just know, my little kit, Dawnstar's heart still aches and she still feels the pain of that day...when she watched her mate leave forever..."
