Sunpaw sat huddled in the corner of the shed. A twoleg had dumped her in here along with many other cats it had found. "Will I ever get out of here?" she breathed, shivering. She remembered the stupid bird dropping her into a lake and then being captured and put in here. "Hello!" A young silver tabby she-cat mewed,her golden eyes glimmering at the sight of a younger cat as well. Sunpaw jolted out of her thoughts. "Hi" she mewed, glad someone was nice, but was feeling gloomy because of the shed. "I'm Straypaw!" the silver cat mewed. "Straypaw!, that...that means your a clan cat!" Sunpaw said, overjoyed. It was dampered when Straypaw shook her head. "I'm a rouge, but my mother was when she was a kit, and her father was too. My father is Kodiak, our family was separated when this twoleg took us away from him." she mewed. "Is your mother here?" Sunpaw asked. Straypaw pointed at a thin looking white shape. The two cats walked over. "Mom?" Straypaw whispered. Weakly, the she-cat lifted her head, showing how thin she was. "Yes?" the cat mewed. "This is Sunpaw" Straypaw told her. "Sunpaw?" Straypaw's mother questioned. Sunpaw shook her head yes. "Hello, I am Snowberry" thec cat mewed and then went into a coughing fit. Snowberry gave a weak smile. "You two go and play" Snowberry mewed, flicking her tail. They switched unsure looks, but obeyed and padded to Sunpaw's corner.
"Snowberry..." the breeze whispered, carrying the voice of two kits. Snowberry lifted her head. Sparkling kits appeared. "Lionkit, Goldkit...", Snowberry breathed, "Is it time?" They nodded grimly. Snowberry smiled and said "Sunpaw will look after her". She layed her head back down, and felt the cold as Lionkit touched her nose, sending her into black nothing...
Sunpaw watched as Snowberry lay down her head and was still...too still. Panic rushed over her. "Straypaw!" Sunpaw yowled, rushing to Snowberry's motionless body. Straypaw padded stiffly over, grief filling her eyes. Sunpaw huddled to her and Sunpaw showed her how to sit vigil. Shortly after they were finished, two greasy male twolegs came in. One grabbed Snowberry and took her body outside. The other snatched Straypaw and took her into it's nest, howling. Sunpaw rushed to leap and attack it, but something sharp poked into her and she lost her strength, legs failing and mind drifting, she knew she was going to die.
