New Apprentice!

Dawnstar swiftly lept onto the Tall Stone. "Cats of RoseClan! We have a new apprentice joining our ranks...please welcome Bluepaw!" she yowled happily. Cats around her cheered "Bluepaw! Bluepaw!" and the young cat looked very happy as well. Dawnstar waited for it to quiet down. "I have decided her mentor will be Shadowrain! I hope he will pass on his excitement for training and enthusiasm as well as loyalty" she mewed. Shadowrain touched noses with his apprentice, eyes sparkling.

"Bluepaw! Bluepaw! Bluepaw!" Mistflower continued to cheer until the rest of the cats began to die down. She smiled at the new apprentice and when Dawnstar dismissed the meeting she padded over to Foxpaw.
"I think we should have some battle practice." She suggested, giving her chest a couple of licks. "Training is vital to you-and perhaps you could teach me a few of those moves you learned." She nudged him playfully and stood up.

"Yeah! That sounds great! Maybe we can invite some other apprentices to train with us later" Foxpaw mewed cheerily.

"That's a wonderful idea." Mistflower meowed softly. "For now, let's do some battle training. We'll invite the apprentices when we practice hunting." She flicked her tail for the red tom to follow her and they padded out of camp and into the territory.
They made their way through the long grass and stuffy fog that hung in the air, the stench of bird feces flooding it. Unusual. Mistflower thought, scrunching her nose with disgust. "The fog isn't too heavy," She meowed quickly, not enjoying opening her mouth to the taste. "We'll be out of it soon." And she was right. It wasn't long before they were in a small grassy clearing with flowers poking through the bushes. Leaves hung overhead and vines made the branches droop low. The fog still stood in the air but it wasn't quite as thick.
"Pretend I'm attacking you." Mintstar meowed. "I'm leaping at you with outstretched claws. My teeth are bared and I'm going straight towards your neck. How will you dodge me?" Before the tom had time to think she did just that but with sheathed claws. She narrowed her eyes into slits and her ears lay back on her head. Her tail was long and pointed behind her and her fur was bristled high. The trees shadowed her face and the glint of sunlight made her eyes a sickening amber color.

Kicking off with his back feet he slid in the slippery dew-speckled grass and with claws sheathed pounded her belly with his paw so she couldn't latch onto his back legs or tail.

(It feels good to do some RP training again ^^)

Mistflower jumped back and lunged at him again. She was going to knock him off his feet but he had expected it and jumped out of the way. She flipped around and pushed him over by his backside. She took a pawstep back to let him stand up again.
"Good job!" She meowed. "Always remember to expect the unexpected though. Sometimes it can be difficult but..." Her voice echoed the training clearing and she forgot what she was going to say.

He panted from his effort. "Well, you got me that time" he breathed. "Wait until you see my other moves" he mewed, smiling. Crouching he prepared for another attack from his mentor.

Mistflower sprung at him quickly, rather excited to see what he would do.

He slyly sidestepped, ducking her paws, and swung to push on her spine and send her to the ground. He jumped backwards in time to escape her swing. "It's one to one" he mewed, amused. "We need a tie-breaker"

Brooke said...

Mistflower nodded, amused. "Then let the tie-breaker begin!" She jumped after him, but purposely to the left of him. He dodged her with ease but he didn't expect her to slide under him and knock him over from under. She swatted his face but he was able to escape her next blow.

He lept to attack next, but instead of at her, he jumped over her and kicked backwards at her front paws, knocking her down. Instead of hitting the ground, she rolled and sprung at him again. He lept too, and they grazed each other's fur in frustration. "This is gonna take a while it seems" he yowled as he landed hard on the ground.

A while later both cats were panting as Mistflower breathed, "Good job. I think we've done enough for now." She flexed her claws and stretched her back after grooming her brindle fur and yawned. "Let's head back to camp. You can give prey to the elders, check their bedding for thorns, and then we'll do night battle training later. I know it's a lot for your first training session, but something tells me you'll be able to handle it." She winked and she began padding back to camp.

He nodded, but with a sigh. Paws aching, he headed to do his duties.
